Gerald Egan is a PhD candidate in the Department of English at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is currently writing a dissertation that explores modes of authorial self-representation in the poetic editions of Alexander Pope, Mary Robinson, and Lord Byron. This project focuses in particular on possible connections between frontispiece portraits in these editions and textual tropes of self-representation.
